The Council of Ministers this afternoon reassessed the epidemiological situation in the country and updated the list of municipalities at risk. In addition to maintaining the rules previously set for the Christmas period, it has increased the measures for the New Year period.
However, this update and the respective measures will not take effect until midnight on December 24, when the state of emergency will come into force.
In the region of Leiria (district of Leiria and municipality of Ourém), the municipalities of Porto de Mós and Figueiró dos vinho – which have so far made up the list of municipalities at moderate risk of contagion – have joined Ansião, among the municipalities at very high risk. This change is due to the fact that there was an incidence rate of over 480 new cases of infection per 100,000 population in 14 days.
The municipalities of Batalha, Caldas da Rainha, Castanheira de Pera and Óbidos also increased their level of risk from moderate to high, having accumulated more than 240 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants during the same period. The municipalities of Leiria, Marinha Grande, Ourém, Peniche and Pombal remain at high risk.
Only Alcobaça saw the level of risk decrease, from high to moderate, and joined, in this group, the municipalities of Alvaiázere, Bombarral, Nazaré and Pedrógão Grande.
