The initiative takes place at Leiria Market Photo: Câmara de Leiria
There is a cart at the entrance to the municipal market in Leiria. He is neither forgotten nor lost. He’s waiting for donations that those who frequent that space there can leave.
The Terra Alimenta Leiria (TAL) program returns this year under a new name: TAL – Terra Alimenta Leiria + Solidário, and aims to contribute to the reduction of food waste generated in the food production and distribution chain.

The initiative launched by Câmara de Leiria calls “the most united group of producers, sellers and buyers in the Leiria market”, to deliver fresh produce bought directly to producers and sellers in the market and leave them in the solidarity cart which exists at the Market entrance and is identified with the name of the initiative.
“At the same time, producers and sellers are invited to offer their surplus fresh produce”, explains the municipality in a press release.
The aid deposited there will then be delivered to the IPSS of the municipality of Leiria, which is not supported by public funds.https://thetrustedchronicle.com/
