IBM Cloud Satellite will convert your data center into a satellite for IBM Technology

Recent business developments have witnessed managers employ an AI algorithm to verify the activities taking place in their facilities. This move allows them to identify the places where they need to pay attention by maintaining proper hygiene to minimize the coronavirus pandemic’s spread. However, the technology to examine this video data for appropriate action requires high processing power, which some systems may crash or experience troubleshooting problems.

Nevertheless, IBM Cloud and Lumen Technologies (formerly CenturyLink) has been focusing on the technology that would resolve such technical hitches by rolling out the advanced hybrid cloud infrastructure that is developed in edge data centers. This move allows the engineers to process significant data loads for public data center consumption in a short period.

The IBM vice president and the head of the Cloud Platform, Jason McGee, stated that they unleashed this technology because the data which is being processed is enormous. He added that they have to integrate data from various cameras in live video streams creating latency issues. That is why they deployed their AI algorithm to run the diagnostics.

This move has facilitated the reduction of latency and quick response in dispatching the data that the system has analyzed to servers connected to the executive’s computers to make the decisions. IBM unleashed its IBM Cloud Satellite via the online Think event to ensure that customers in need of this data are served effectively. Moreover, the service allows the engineers to customize the IBM Cloud properties to serve the facilities, collocation sites, and other cloud provider platforms that lack the technology to progress in their service delivery.

McGee explained that the video processing mechanism employed the OpenShift cluster, which was loaded with an IBM Edge Application Manager to control the cameras and other devices linked to the system. He stated that they had a video analytics solution that processed the videos and the Artificial Intelligence program monitoring the hats and masks worn by employees.

This technology helped the managers execute the appropriate measures to maintain the safety protocols mitigating the coronavirus’s spread. In the past, people would plant cameras and link them with softwares in the control room for monitoring. However, this technology had a challenge since employees would flaunt the rules in the blind spots left by the cameras. McGee stated that they could expand their services to various locations for customers to access platforms like Google, Amazon, and Azure to provide the service when they are the closest utility to the customers.
