On Monday December 14, Portugal won two more restaurants with a Michelin star. One, a long time ago, which was already expected, but it happened to be envisaged the same year that its leader had to go to the streets and fight – with hunger strike, even – for the sector: the 2021 guide will be known for the fact that the restaurant 100 Maneiras, by Ljubomir Stanisic, finally obtained the rank of a Michelin star, accompanied by Eneko Lisboa. Already established in Spain by Basque chef Eneko Atxa, this last restaurant took a little over a year on Portuguese soil to earn the distinction.
Closed even before the pandemic in the Algarve, the São Gabriel restaurant, by Leonel Pereira, lost a star, which represents a drop in the group with a value. At the above level, in the list of houses with two stars, there were no additions and losses in the Portuguese constellation.
Regarding the Leiria region, it is not yet this time that the famous and anonymous inspectors have awarded stars for the gastronomic offer of the Center of the country. Here, the strengths of the guide remain in a lower hierarchy, with the Bib Gourmand and Prato Michelin distinctions.
To reiterate the performance of the previous year, Casinha Velha, in Leiria, and Dom José, in Bombarral, keep the Bib Gourmand label, which corresponds to the “best value for money” of the gastronomic guide, up to 40 euros.
Regarding Casa Leiriense, the publication specifies that “the customer is generally surprised by the variety of dishes, the house specialties dedicated to each day of the week and, above all, by the very complete wine cellar (they offer more than 1000 references)” . Regarding the restaurant located to the West, the guide recalls that it is a family business, with an essence based on “authentic Portuguese home cooking” and specialties such as “Fillets of sole, with rice and tartar sauce, or black pork Feijoada ””.

They are: António Padeiro, in Alcobaça, Taberna D’Ádélia, in Nazaré, Sabores d’Itália, in Caldas da Rainhas, O Invitation and Tia Alice, in Fátima. On the latter, already elevated to the rank of “best restaurant in Portugal” by the President of the Republic, the red guide mentions it as “a family business updated with great taste”, where “tasty traditional cuisine” is served. .
