Ourém has recorded five deaths since yesterday, Leiria two, Marinha Grande one and Pombal one. These nine deaths bring the total number of deaths linked to Covid-19 in the region of Leiria (district of Leiria and municipality of Ourém) to 154.
The number of new infections has also increased. According to data obtained by local health authorities, 210 additional cases have been recorded, including 90 in Leiria.
Among the counties with the highest incidence in the last 24 hours, there are 29 other cases of Pombal, Ourém (19), Porto de Mós (15), Caldas da Rainha (14), Marinha Grande (13) , Batalha (five) Nazaré (two) and Bombarral (one).
As for recoveries, which in recent days have outnumbered positive cases, 140 have been “only” reported since yesterday.
The municipality of Ourém stands out with 64 cured patients, followed by Leiria (27), Marinha Grande (19), Pombal (15), Nazaré (seven), Porto de Mós (four), Batalha and Bombarral (two each).
After counting the total number of cases accumulated since the start of the pandemic (6,999 in total), healings (5,324) and deaths (154), the active cases rose to 1,521 this Saturday (61 more than yesterday ).

Many of the new positive cases are associated with multiple outbreaks in the region, as several outbreaks of contagion in Caldas da Rainha, Leiria, Peniche and Porto de Mós have been reported since yesterday.
In the municipality of Leiria, the ADESBA house, in Barreira, has 38 elderly people and 26 infected employees, and yesterday a death was confirmed among users diagnosed with Covid-19.
In Caldas da Rainha, an outbreak detected about a week ago at the Correios station has infected 14 out of 61 workers. Positive cases are in prophylactic isolation recovering at home, while the station works with the remaining employees.
Caldas da Rainha Hospital confirmed two outbreaks this week, with 22 patients and four professionals infected with the new coronavirus until yesterday Friday. The Centro Hospitalar do Oeste (CHO), part of the Caldas da Rainha unit, waited yesterday for the results of tests carried out on the remaining patients and workers of the departments concerned.
Also yesterday, the increase in positive cases was confirmed at the home of the Seniors Association of Serra d’El Rei, in Peniche, which affected three dozen people, including users and employees.
According to information shared by the Municipality of Porto de Mós, some of the new diagnoses are due to the epidemic detected at the Cruz da Légua wellness center. “Positive users are asymptomatic or with mild symptoms, remaining in the institution,” said autarky in a statement, adding that “the emergency plan has been activated and a systematic process of testing and monitoring by the entities (ACES PL, Social security and civil protection) ”.
