Leiria region has 83 more cases, two deaths and 48 recoveries – Leiria region


Eleven counties in the region have registered new positive cases in the past 24 hours. There are 83 other confirmed tests and “only” 48 recoveries.

The totals are lower than in the last few days, today is Sunday and there is usually a decrease in the number of tests on weekends and at the beginning of the week, but despite this the total of active cases continues to increase in the region of Leiria (district of Leiria and Municipality of Ourém). There are 43 more than yesterday, out of a total of 1883.

Alcobaça is the municipality with the most confirmed cases since yesterday, 25 others, followed by Leiria with 23. With less than ten cases, Caldas da Rainha (7), Ourém (6), Peniche (5), Óbidos, Bombarral and Porto de Mós (with 4 each), Marinha Grande and Pombal (with 2 each) and Nazaré (1).

Today, according to municipal data, there are still two dead to mourn, both in Caldas da Rainha, which confirms the existence of 14 deaths since the start of the pandemic. In the region, since March, 180 people have died with causes of death linked to the new coronavirus.

Of the recoveries, only seven of the region’s 17 counties have patients who have been released and can be released from isolation. Caldas da Rainha is the only municipality that exceeds two dozen cases (22) this Sunday. In Leiria ten people recovered, while in Alcobaça six, Óbidos five, Batalha and Marinha Grande two in each and in Porto de Mós one more.
