The Assembly of the Republic renewed today, with the favorable votes of the PS, the PSD and the unregistered MP Cristina Rodrigues, the state of emergency until January 7 of next year to allow measures to contain covid-19.

They voted against the PCP, the EPI, the Chega, the Liberal Initiative and MP Joacine Katar Moreira. Left bloc, PAN and CDS-PP abstained.

The presidential decree, sent to parliament on Wednesday evening, between December 24 and January 7 across the country, covering the Christmas and New Year periods.

Regarding the last approval of the state of emergency, on December 4, only the deputy Joacine Katar Moreira changed her direction of the vote, going from abstention to the vote against.

The content of the presidential diploma approved today is similar to what is currently in force, but adds a rule to emphasize that violating the rules of the state of emergency constitutes a crime of disobedience.

This is the seventh diploma of the state of emergency of Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa in the current context of the pandemic of 19 covids.
